On Safari in Kruger Park, South Africa

The South African peninsula boasts a temperate climate during the entire year, and has the plus point of being situated at the right latitude in the Southern Hemisphere – making it a superb holiday away from the dank and dark American and European winters.

In this short article, we’re going to show you the less well known areas of South Africa, so you can escape the hords of tourists and at the same time enjoy the cheaper costs that you can discover in the lesser known places.

Kruger Park
Kruger Park is the biggest wildlife reserve in South Africa and extends 350 km from north to south and 60 km from west to east. Kruger Park has 8 main gates that allow entryway to the various camps there. There is plenty of guesthouses near Kruger Park so it doesn’t have to be a mammoth return trip from Durban or wherever you’re staying.

Visit the Drakensberg Mountain Range
The Drakensberg is the highest range of mountains the South African Peninsula, going up to over 3400 meters in height. Old caves are predominant in the more easily worn sandstone, and many have murals sketched by the indigenous people. The Drakensberg Mountain Range has roughly 40000 works of bushman paintings and is the greatest aggregation of such drawings on earth. There is evidence that the bushmen lived in the Drakensberg as long ago as 100,000 years ago. The Drakensberg Mountain Range is simple to get to from nearby Durban and you can get guesthouses in Durban without any trouble.

KwaZulu Region
KwaZulu Natahas has become progressively popular with tourists – mainly sold as the Zulu Kingdom. It is unfortunate that many holidaymakers miss this experience, as many locals know that it provides visitors a long list of things to do. For many years it has been known as the Garden Province – and a well deserved name it is too. And again, there should be little worry finding accommodation near KwaZulu.
