Former Badminton Champ Set on Developing Young Potentials
Badminton champ, Yap Yee Hup refuses to give up his Yonex badminton racket and continues to pursue his fascination for the sport, if not through playing it directly, but through training others to perform their best.
Yap Yee is one of the top players in his league, championing a number of tight matches in the men’s doubles category. After Yap Yee declared his retirement from the professional play of badminton, he decided to maximize his skills by expanding the opportunities of other talents with ripe potential to excel in badminton. In the process, Yap Yee is also exploring his dexterity in the field of training others.
Yap Yee expressed that he could not have dared to walk away from all the excitement of badminton. However, he admits that the realization came with the need to learn and master a new trade.
The 40-year old former badminton champ has decided to play an important role in promoting badminton as one of the primary sports in Malaysia. He serves as the chief coaching director of a promising group of young athletes under the Yap Twins Sports Management. He works with his brother Yap Yee Guan and other trusted names in the field. He handles a roster composed of twelve assistant coaches. The group conducts training periods in several locations in Kang Valley in Kuala Lumpur. Among the usual locations are the Bukit Jalil Gold and Country Resort, the Kuala Lumpur Golf Club, the Tropicana Golf and Country Club, and the Royal Lake Club.
Yap Yee’s management of Yap Twins sport has paved the way for the creation of a quality badminton coaching service in the country. The company is dedicated to provide the best badminton instruction of interested parties, regardless of their age, gender and skill in the sport. It is intent on developing basic to advanced skills especially among the younger athletes.
