Tassels

Tassels are strings or cords that are found on the tops of graduation caps. The tassel is created by binding or joining together threads that have been plaited or gathered in any other manner by gluing the treads to the top of a mortarboard on one end and the other end hanging. The hanging side has threads that are dangling and loose. These dangling threads are a form of decoration because the

are generally used for decorative purposes. The creation of a tassel involves terminating a cord so that it may not unravel with a knot. The basic parts of the tassels from top to bottom are the suspending cord, the body and the skirt made of fringe. The body is more commonly made of several molds or a single mold. They also have a traditional value in regards to graduation ceremonies. Since time in memorial, there has been the switching of these items from one side to another while hanging on the mortarboard. This was done to signify transition from one level of study to the next. In many cases, the tassel hangs on the right side and after receiving awards, graduates change it to the left.the graduation tassel is a vital component of the graduation attire and should be selected properly.
